One day while beginning to write DH, JK Rowling took out her "SORTING HAT PROTOTYPE" and put scraps of paper with everyones name on each one.

Late the night when she was writing she was overcome with a sudden urge to kill a character.

Reaching into the sorting hat she drew out a name---
